Dr. Ron Weiss, Ethos Farm to Health Board President & Founder

Ron Weiss, M.D. is dual board-certified in internal medicine and lifestyle medicine, and a primary care physician in New Jersey and New York. He is the founder of Ethos Primary Care and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is also a botanist and farmer and offers an evidence-based, food-as-medicine approach to healing from chronic illness and optimizing wellness.

William J. Garces, Esq. is a founder and managing partner at Garces, Grabler & LeBrocq, which provides a wider range of practice areas to help their clients deal with the multitude of complex legal issues that confront their daily lives.

Lenora Pugliese, Board Secretary,
Ethos Farm to Health, Farm Manager

Nora started as a backyard gardener, becoming an apprentice organic farmer in 1994, at Farmer John’s Organic Produce – the first organic farm in New Jersey. She went on to work with John Canright, who mentored an entire generation of organic farmers in New Jersey.

Michael Dee, Organic Gardener

Michael has been an organic gardener since the 1970s, when he subscribed to Rodale Press’ Organic Gardening magazine. He is a strong proponent of eradicating invasive plants and landscaping with natives – principles he demonstrates on his own properties in Harding Township, NJ, and Stockbridge, MA.

Joan P. Werner, Ethos Farm to Health, Treasurer

Joan Werner was a Senior Director and Head of Client Services for NYL Investors. She was responsible for managing all institutional client activity for the Fixed Income and Private Placements groups.  Joan was formally the Director of Marketing and Client Services at Ramius LLC, Cowen, an independent alternative investments firm. Prior to joining Ramius, she was Director of Marketing for Volaris Advisors which was an independent investment advisory firm specializing in volatility management.

Cameron C. Dubes,

Cameron has his roots deep in traditional American agriculture.  He was born on an Iowa beef showplace farm that bred the world’s grand champion Shorthorn bull in the 1930’s.  He graduated from Iowa State University in agriculture business/agriculture journalism, working as a WOI Radio farm markets broadcaster while in school. Right out of Iowa State he moved to NYC to sell advertising for National Hog Farmer and BEEF magazines before returning to Iowa to work with Ralston Purina’s Livestock Chows Division.

Asha P. Gala,
NBC-HWC, Lifestyle Clinical Director, Ethos Primary Care

Asha Gala, NBC-HWC, is Lifestyle Clinical Director at Ethos Primary Care.  Over the past decade, Asha has worked as a lifestyle coach in New Jersey.  From designing and teaching lifestyle medicine classes, to facilitating support groups for patients healing from chronic illness, to providing one-on-one lifestyle counseling sessions, Asha offers not only professional support, but also personal understanding.

Saul Bautista, M.D, MPH

Dr. Bautista, featured in the documentary film “Code Blue: Redefining The Practice Of Medicine” and nationally recognized with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) Donald A. Pegg Student Leadership Award in 2018, returns to Ethos where his education began. In 2015, collaborating with mentors Dr. Saray Stancic and Dr. Ronald Weiss he pioneered the introduction of Lifestyle Medicine within medical education in New Jersey founding the NJMS Lifestyle Medicine Group, implementing various institutional and community lifestyle medicine initiatives. He is one of 60 military veterans selected nationwide as a Tillman Scholar in 2019.

Andrew H. Smith, PhD, Rodale Institute

Dr. Andrew “Drew” Smith is responsible for administrating, facilitating, and implementing farm operations and research activities at the Rodale Institute main campus and six other production and research campuses.

Drew earned a Bachelor of Science in agronomy at Cornell University and a Master of Science in entomology at the University of Maryland.

Jason DeSalvo, CEO, Strategic Outpatient Services, Inc.

Jason DeSalvo co-founded Strategic Outpatient Services, Inc. in 1995, a company specializing in the development and management of outpatient Positron Emission Tomography centers, currently serving as the Company’s CEO.

Mr. DeSalvo has served on non-profit Boards including Ethos Farm Project, Coral Reef Alliance, Tewksbury Land Trust, Jazz House Kids and Hoop-A-Paluza; also serving as Vice Chairman of Montclair, New Jersey’s Planning Board while a resident there.
