Natural Basket Making

  • Ethos Farm Project (map)

Join us on the farm to explore the wildly creative world of natural basketry. In this hands-on workshop you will learn two ancient natural fiber basketry techniques: Pine Park and Twining.

Making containers using different kinds of tree bark is an ancient practice. Participant will choose a piece of pine bark and learn how to make a pattern, fold it and sew it into a basket. Everyone will leave with their completed basket and a new appreciation for the beautiful and abundant white pine tree.

Twining is a weaving technique in which two strands of flexible material are twisted alternately around a support to create a tightly woven and solid basket. Learn to make beautiful baskets and sculptures for your home and garden. Perfect for the beginner and the experienced weaver with endless possibilities for individual exploration.

Students will leave the workshop with their unique baskets and a lot of creativity for future projects.
