Natural Plant Dyeing

  • Ethos Farm Project (map)

Come spend a summer afternoon on the farm immersing yourself in the magic and wonder of natural plant dyes! Feel the healing energy from the plant world as you receive the beautiful colors from nature.

Natural materials have been used to produce vibrant and rich colors for dyeing throughout much of human history. In this dynamic, hands-on workshop you will learn about the process of extracting a beautiful color palette using everything from kitchen scraps to locally grown and foraged plants. In addition students will also be introduced to Shibori, a Japanese dyeing technique, which produces a number of different patterns on fabric. You will have the opportunity to design and dye your own pieces during the class.

Each student will take home an organic silk scarf and cotton napkin as well as the knowledge of how to dye with natural plant materials.

All materials included. All experience levels welcome! Click below for additional details and terms..
