Next Generation Farmers Incubator Program

As part of the Ethos mission, we strive to create a sustainable model for growing healthy food and protecting and renewing the earth. The problem is that most farmers in the US are aging out of farming and their children are not pursuing this path. Farmers who are age 65 and older outnumber those under the age of 35 by 3-1! Those under 35 who would like to farm don't have the knowledge or resources.

How do we change the course of our food system while helping new farmers get the knowledge base they need to farm sustainably?

Our answer is the Ethos Next Generation Farmers Incubator Program.

The current chemical-based monocropping farming system does not work. We are destroying our produce diversity, soil, local flora and fauna and fostering the growth of invasive plants and superbugs.

Change needs to be made so we can continue to grow a wide variety of nutrient-dense produce and protect our partners in nature - bees, butterflies, birds and other creatures that make growing superior food possible.

Farming is very financially challenging and our food economy currently favors big industrial farming methods. To secure our future we need small-scale, diverse growers. These farmers will become our leaders in the type of sustainable farming methods that restore our soils and help build local, thriving food systems.

Our intention is to help new farmers who want to get into farming but don't have the knowledge or resources to start. The Next Generation Farmers Incubator Program gives new farmers a practical experience on a working farm under the guidance of a master farmer who practices sustainable, regenerative farming.
